Recent reports have wrongly blamed the use of a paintball gun for the defacing of a famous Banksy mural in Bristol.
Articles http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/8114184.stm claimed that the bright blue paint was shot from a paintball gun. However it is clear from the images of balloon debris and the commentary on the films that actually balloons filled with paint were thrown.
In fact paintball markers only fire small balls of harmless, fully biodegradable gelatine and certainly could never be loaded with a balloon.
Jonathan Mellor Marketing Manager Skirmish Paintball comments “Paintball is a popular, well organised section of the leisure industry in the UK, enjoyed by young and old and ought not to be inaccurately connected to acts of vandalism in this way”
“We have been established for 25 years in the UK with an excellent safety record. Over one million people safely played paintball at well controlled sites nationwide last year shooting nearly half a billion paintball,}” He concluded.
