This just in. Boris Johnson now officially declared new Mayor of London

The London Assembly website is carrying the following somewhat curt statement:

"Boris Johnson has been elected as Mayor of London. He won after second preference votes were taken into account, with a total of 1,168,738 votes. A majority of more than 139,000 votes over Ken Livingstone."

The website is still (01.00 BST) carrying the biography of Ken Livingstone as mayor of London.
