Kung fu shark beats up divers who try to turn him into shark-fin soup

A free online game featuring a Kung fu shark beating up divers has been launched today to raise awareness of over-fishing of sharks.

"Enter The Sharkey" was developed by Glasgow games development firm T-Enterprise and released this morning (Monday 25th).

You can play it free at http://www.t-enterprise.co.uk/flashgame/playgame.aspx?id=sharky.

Players control the main character Sharkey, the Kung Fu shark. He attacks divers who are trying to catch him and turn him into shark-fin soup. He can throw star fish at them or do a Kung fu spinaroony.

Recent reports have revealed that some species of shark are being so badly over fished to meet demand for the soup; they will be placed on the endangered list.

T-Enterprise's MD Sadia Chishti said games are the perfect way to spread important messages.
She said: "Some people are more likely to play a free game online than sit and read reports about species of animals being put in danger of extinction.

"This is a fun game, but it makes people more aware of the problem. That can only be a good thing. The more people that know about these kind of problems, the more likely it is they will support groups that are trying to help."

T-Enterprise has a history of using its team's skills to raise awareness of important issues.
Recently it launched a game about the problems faced to the UK's bee population by the varroa mite, which latches onto bees and sucks their 'blood'".

T-Enterprise is a bespoke software and game development business based in Baillieston, Glasgow. It employs six people and works with businesses across the UK.
